avyakta = ‘un-manifest’ or that which is not yet.
to me, it symbolises – living on the edge of your knowledge, abilities and being.
why should you live on the edge?
primo, the unknown & the uncertain – humility towards them and realising their asymmetric value and secundo, because it keeps you curious, seeking and grounded.
a sanskrit subhashita, from the hitopadesha (-naryana pandit ji) captures this beautifully:
विद्या ददाति विनयं, विनयाद् याति पात्रताम्।पात्रत्वात् धनमाप्नोति, धनात् धर्मं ततः सुखम्॥
vidyā dadāti vinayaṃ, vinayād yāti pātratām | pātratvāt dhanam āpnoti, dhanād dharmaṃ tataḥ sukham ||
this means –
knowledge gives humility; from humility comes worthiness (capability). From worthiness, one attains wealth; From wealth, one performs righteous duties, and from that comes happiness.
the more you know should make you humble about the scale of that which you don’t know. from this humility, we say you do not identify yourself with what you know and live on the edge of your knowledge. and from that comes the worthiness to be and to do.
well and to be honest, the name sound very cool to me, who was at the time of naming the website, very fascinated by the aesthetics of neo-sanskrit names and the depth of their meaning.
so there you have it, avyakta to keep me always on the move and always learning.
